BlackBerry has pinned its hopes on the BlackBerry Z10 to regain its lost share in the handset market. It is way behind Android and iOS as the company has about only 5 per cent market share.

Blackberry Z10 BB10 Smartphone – in-depth review

This Smartphone was expected to be launched about a year ago. However, better late than never, BlackBerry fans can get their hands on the BlackBerry Z10 handset. We took a closer look at this Z10 BB10 Smartphone and here’s what we found.

Physical appearance and build

The design and the build of this smartphone make it look appealing. We felt that company has come a long way in giving users a phone that looks high-end and that has a premium finish. If you take out the BlackBerry logos that sit on the front and at the back of this phone, it will share close resemblance with the iPhone 5.

Moving on from its physical appearance we examined the other physical factors of the phone. We held this phone in our hands and we realized that this one is indeed larger and heavier than the iPhone 5. It weighs about 4.8 oz and measures around 130x66x9mm. The rear of this phone provided us with a good grip.

On the left of this smartphone you will come across the primary micro-USB and micro-Hdmi ports. Sitting right on top is a 3.5mm headphone jack. We also spotted the MicroSD card slots and Micro-sim that are nested close to each other. One of the advantages of the BlackBerry Z10 is its removable back plate.

The buttons are also neatly placed in order. Right on top sits the power button. On the right hand side is the volume controls line. In front are the three capacitive buttons. There is the button to access the camera of the phone. This one also doubles up as a Play and Pause button while listening to music files.

Display

The company deserves credit for doing away with the QWERTY keyboard. This is a bold step that the company has taken and hope it works in their favor. The smartphone comes packed with a 4.2inch capacitive touch screen display. You can enjoy crystal clear display of 1,280x 768, 356 ppi resolutions from almost any viewing angle on this phone.

Software

BlackBerry Z10 is believed to be the first smartphone to be powered by the BlackBerry 10 OS. BlackBerry balance allows its users to separate their personal and professional space on any Z10 device provided it is connected to a BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES 10). All Z10 owners can take advantage of BlackBerry Protect and a couple of security features that come for free with this device.

Battery

We share the opinion that the battery of BlackBerry Z10 could have done better in terms of performance. When we put the 1,800mAh battery to test we found that it died in less than nine hours of it being used.

Final verdict

If you are looking for a corporate handset, BlackBerry Z10 is the phone that you need to get.
