2012 might have come and gone without the apocalypse, letting everyone heave a sigh of relief. But that doesn’t mean it’s gone forever. The apocalypse might come any day and at any time and have you running for your Bomb Shelters.

The end of the world will come without warning and it is always best to be prepared for the worst. There are different ways to prep up for doomsday and one of the most important things is to stay physically fit. To survive the end of the world you need to be on your toes and save your life and others.

Here are some of the top exercises for you. Remember to exercise in six day stretches with a day of rest to refresh yourself.

Build your arms with pushups

You might have to carry bodies, heavy things, lift debris and so many other things. For this you will need strong arms. The best exercise for this is pushups. They will make your arms, shoulders and back very strong. Your final aim should be a hundred pushups a day, done in sets of three. Use barbells and dumbbells for building up your muscles. This should get you strong arms.

Work on your legs with squats

A crucial factor in survival, speed will save your life in many a rough spot. You will need to do a lot of running if doomsday comes calling; not for mere survival, but for assisting others as well. Do squats as they get you strong legs and buttocks. Stand with your legs apart and bend your knees keeping your back absolutely straight. Do as many squats as possible in sets of two every day. Remember to keep your legs apart at a distance of shoulder width from each other.

Cardio exercises

Even running to your Bomb Shelters
will take some good running. There is nothing better to build up stamina than some good old cardiovascular exercises. There are different forms of cardio exercises like jogging, dancing and jumping rope exercises too. These don’t require training and all you need is practice and dedication. Start with only ten minutes of cardio per week. From each following week, amp it up by an extra five minutes. Your final goal should be a whopping thirty minutes of cardio per day. Remember to take it slow and build up over time.

Some strength exercises

This is one exercise that will build up some strength in you. You should lie down on your back with your hands placed behind your head. Slowly bend your knees upward. Now lift your shoulders and touch your left knee with your right elbow. Now, repeat the process with your left elbow and right knee while you are straightening out your left leg. This motion should mimic the pedalling of a bicycle.

Try and do this as many times as you can, moving from knee to knee. Remember that your abdominal muscles should be tightened while you are doing this exercise.

It is vitally important that your body is conditioned to bear hardship and injury. This is why exercises like the ones listed above are so crucial. It is no use just buying doomsday survival kits online and not preparing oneself. At the end of the day, if you have a functional and fit body, it will go a long way in keeping you going, even if you have nothing else with you. If doomsday does come calling it will be a life altering experience and it’s always best to be prepared for the worst.
